Terms of use

The website and the disk images.

Last updated: 12 September 2026

VortexFlow is free and open-source software released under the MIT license. That license governs the software: what you may do with it, and the fact that it comes with no warranty. These terms cover the two things around it: this website, and the prebuilt disk images we publish. They are not a privacy policy; that is here.

The software

Everything you can download from this site or build from the repository is licensed to you under the MIT license, reproduced in full on the license page. In short: use it, change it, share it, for any purpose, keeping the notice intact. There is no account to create, no trial period, no license key, and nothing to pay.

Prebuilt downloads

The disk images on this site are built from the tagged source in the repository. macOS will ask you to confirm the first launch with Open Anyway. That is expected for an open-source download Apple has not notarized. If you would rather not open a binary you did not compile, build it from the source in the same repository.

No warranty

As the MIT license says in capital letters: the software is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. We are not liable for lost work, lost windows, or anything else that follows from using a window switcher. Where the law in your country does not allow that limit, it applies only as far as the law allows. We do care when it breaks, though. Tell us.

The name

The MIT license covers the code. The VortexFlow name and mark are not part of that grant. If you publish a modified build, please give it a name of its own, so people know who to report bugs to.

Contributions

By opening a pull request you agree that your contribution is licensed under the same MIT terms as the rest of the project. There is no separate contributor agreement.
